Researchers from the  Valdosta State University, in Valdosta USA, have drawn the attention of Ghana’s Minister of Education to the number of prominent individuals in Ghana who have acquired doctorate degrees from unaccredited tertiary institutions.

The report draws conclusions on extensive investigations and gives an alarming list of tertiary institutions and equally alarming names of prominent Ghanaians who got their degrees from these schools.

Given that these individuals permeate all sectors of Ghanaian society, the effects of the influence will have dire consequences for Ghana, if their educational status is not checked and rectified.

“As a country, Ghana can only be as good as the institutions it builds. Building excellent institutions implies that the laws of the land apply in a just and fair manner to all manner of people—the poor, the rich, the educated, the uneducated, the politician, the foot soldier, the religious leaders, etc.”, the researchers said in a letter to Ghana’s Minister of Education, Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, and sighted by Pulse.com.gh
