I wanted a funny rapper that’s why I featured Kinaata on ‘Obi agyi obi girl’ – Captain Planet

Captain Planet, a member of 4X4 who has come out with a solo song ‘Obi agyi obi girl’ has revealed that Kofi Kinaata, a featured Artiste on the song was brought on board because he needed a funny rapper to complement the song.

Captain Planet said “You know when we did the song in the studio, we needed a funny rapper on the song and Kofi Kinaata is one my favourite rappers from the Wester so all of us suggested him for the song. Kinaata appeals to the West and other parts of the country too so I think he is a perfect match for this song.”

According to Captain Planet, he did not anticipate the song to be a national hit with footballers and known personalities recording videos of themselves singing it. “I had to find a way to thank all of them after seeing the videos because I didn’t even tell them to do it; people see the videos of them doing it and send it to me” Captain Planet’s answer to a question on whether Adebayor, Asamoah Gyan and others’ video about the song was a promotional strategy.

Captain Planet told Nana Kwame, host of OC Showbiz Review on Skyy Power FM in Takoradi that, “if you listen to the song, it is not anything extraordinary but I think it tells the stories of a lot of people that is why they have accepted the song like that. And the cartoon I also did also helped the promotion because you know Ghanaians like funny things so when they see it, they will forward it to their friends.”
