National Communications Officer of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Solomon Nkansah has advised members of his party to “pretend to be lovers.”
According to the maverick politician, “my advice to the party rank and file and grass-root is that around this time, what we need is to pretend that we are lovers. We must live with façade. The issue is that you and I were not born, any NDC member listening to me, from Amoku’s womb, my mother’s womb, but we have found the need to be NDC members so our mother is NDC so whether you like Solo or not, the fact that we are in NDC, learn to accept that you and Solo are in NDC. That is why in the past I do come on radio and offer some counselling to my younger guys and they thought that I was a fool.”
“In life, if you don’t be a fool, you cannot get to wherever youre going and that is why they will say we will not agree and we will find a youth organizer on radio, condemning the Regional Minister, condemning the MCE, condemning the DCE, who told you that after condemning the DCE and MCE you can inspire the youth as a party that can offer them employment or that can give them some solace in life? So that recalcitrant positions we took in the past we cannot continue like that” Solomon Nkansah poured out his emotions on ‘News Review’ a weekend news analysis programme on Skyy Power FM.
“Currently also, whatever happens, if your brother Solo is wrong, you don’t take it to radio. Call Solo discuss with him, what you did I disagree with you and I hope it will not happen again. If we are able to call ourselves, counsel each other, suggest to each other that this position is not the best, it will not inure to the benefit of the party so let us stop it and take what will help the party. I tell you, NPP don’t have the numbers but what they do is to appeal to the stakeholders in this election, the floating voters. They (floating voters) have no party as their friend or as a group they like. They look through the parties and they see the ones that appears to be somehow discipline and organized then they give them their votes so NDC you can have your 44% that is an extremist zone but that 4.4, you need 5.7 to cross your 50.1 and that 5.7, you need to work to appease them and if you don’t do that you can never cross that mark” Mr. Nkansah who is eyeing the National Organizer position of the NDC further counselled his party members.
Mr. Nkansah also beseeched his party members to refrain from attacking pastors because religion is the opium of the masses and for this reason, pastors’ members will not forgive a politician who attacks their shepherd.
News review comes off every Sunday 1-3pm on Skyy Power FM, 93.5 in Takoradi. It is hosted by Philip Osei Bonsu, Head of Public Relations for Western Region branch of Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG).
