Butterfly Effect, a not for profit organisation headed by Auguster Obaa Yaa Boateng has empowered more than 60 orphaned girls in Accra at an event dubbed ‘Empowering the Orphaned girls.’
Inmates of three (3) orphanages who came together at the Chosen Children Center at Darkuman in Accra on 14th October, 2017, benefited from general grooming of the female and also how to make liquid soap.
A speaker at the event, Nana Kwesi Coomson, Editor-in-Chief of leading online news portal www.233times.net told the beneficiaries to do exploits and not to put ceilings to their dreams, using the story of Ali Bongo, the current President of Gabon who grew up in an orphanage as a case study.
Doris Darkwah, a motivational Speaker also spoke to the beneficiaries of the event using influential women like Oprah Winfrey, Michelle Obama, Naadu Mills, amongst others as role models
Speaking to Miss Boateng, the CEO of Butterfly Effect, she mentioned that empowering orphaned girls has been a deep concern for her. According to her, this will be the beginning of more projects to empower the orphaned girls. She mentioned that there are other events underway to help groom the orphaned girls to help them realize their potentials
