Premier League Fantasy Football: Who’s Hot and Who’s Not in Gameweek 11

A thrilling round of midweek Champions League fixtures have gone by, which saw Spurs record an historic victory over European champions Real Madrid whilst Manchester City battled back from a goal down to overcome Napoli, but at last, Premier League football returns to us.

This weekend’s round of fixtures serves up some enticing encounters, in which Manchester United travel to west London to face Antonio Conte’s struggling Chelsea side, whilst Manchester City welcome Arsenal to the Etihad as they look to defend their unbeaten start to the season.

Who should you draft into your fantasy football lineup this week? Here are some tips.

Goalkeepers

Who’s Hot

Nick Pope – Ever since he replaced the injured Tom Heaton, Pope has been a dependable figure in between the sticks for the Clarets, and with one of the league’s most formidable defences in front of him, the 25-year-old is a good bet to keep a clean sheet away to Southampton.

Rob Elliot – Newcastle welcome 19th-placed Bournemouth to St James’ Park this Saturday, with the Magpies sitting comfortably in ninth place and boasting a backline that has conceded just nine times this season. As a result of this, and the Cherries being as goal shy as they have been, Elliot would be a wise choice for your team.

Who’s Not

Julian Speroni – The Eagles number one is a far more superior option for the south Londoners than Wayne Hennessey, but would not be a smart addition for your team this weekend when Palace travel to Wembley to face Spurs.

Jordan Pickford – Having conceded 20 goals in just ten games already this season, Pickford’s woes look set to continue against Marco Silva’s high flying Watford this Sunday, as the Hornets have notched 15 goals already this season.

Defenders

Who’s Hot

Eric Bailly – After helping the Red Devils to a clean sheet over a Tottenham side who put seven goals past Liverpool and Real Madrid combined, the Ivorian would be a safe bet to pick up points against a faltering Chelsea side.

Jan Vertonghen – The Belgian will be without his compatriot Toby Alderweireld against Palace this Sunday, but you would expect him to cope just fine alongside Davinson Sanchez and Eric Dier against a striker-less Palace side.

Who’s Not

Laurent Koscielny – As dependable and solid as the Frenchman usually is, don’t expect him to pick up many points in your team this weekend when City come to town. Pep Guardiola’s side have scored 35 goals in ten games this season, and will look to add to that tally this Sunday.

Jose Fonte – Fresh from succumbing to a last gasp Wilfried Zaha equaliser, the last thing West Ham and Jose Fonte will want to come up against is the fast paced, attacking football delivered by Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino.

Midfielders

Who’s Hot

Wilfried Zaha – After his return from injury, the Ivorian has scored two goals in three games for the Eagles, and given his frightening pace and desire, a wide open Wembley turf may be of benefit for the forward against Spurs this Sunday.

Dele Alli – The former MK Dons man notched twice against European champions Real Madrid on Wednesday night as he well and truly kick-started his season, and will hope to add to his tally against Roy Hodgson’s men this weekend.

Who’s Not

Alexis Sanchez – The Chilean is one of the priciest players in the game, and his inclusion in your team will need to be reevaluated having scored just one league goal so far this season.

Gylfi Sigurdsson – Everton’s Icelandic midfielder has been in disappointing form since his big money move from Swansea, and is yet to score or assist for the Toffees in the league.

Forwards

Who’s Hot

Glenn Murray – The former Palace man has scored three goals in two games since coming in for the suspended Tomer Hemed, and when the Seagulls face the Swans this weekend, there’s a good chance that the 34-year-old will extend his good run of form.

Jamie Vardy – Leicester’s talisman has notched six goals in ten games already this season and sits comfortably amongst the most prolific front men in the league. The Foxes travel to Stoke this Saturday, and Claude Puel will be hoping his pacy forward can find the net again.

Who’s Not

Salomon Rondon – West Brom’s Venezuelan striker has scored just once in six games this season for Tony Pulis’ side, and a trip to solid Huddersfield shouldn’t reap many rewards.

Alvaro Morata – Chelsea’s Spanish forward is without a goal in four Premier League gameweeks for Conte’s side, and will not enjoy coming up against Jose Mourinho’s formidable United defence.
