President Akufo-Addo has commissioned the long-awaited ultra modern business centre, the Octagon in Accra today.
The single largest structure in West Africa boasts of usable area for luxury offices and can house a five-star hotel.
The President lauded those who nursed the vision that has led to an eventual construction of such an imposing edifice in the centre of Accra on a 120,000 square meters of land.
The president expressed his delight about the structure as evidenced in taking time out of his packed schedule to commission the structure that will contribute to the economic development of the economy.
“I felt I had to come for two reasons, one, the initiative, the private enterprise that has gone into bringing this edifice into being is one we should all celebrate. I believe that the situation whereby individuals have the vision and the capacity to bring about this kind of infrastructure, that is the vision we are looking to build our country on”
The president also acknowledged the presence of the former mayor of Accra, Alfred Oko Vanderpuije and praised him for his contribution since the project commenced during his time in office.
