Y FM’s DJ Edita graduates with 1st class

Richard Yeboah Sarkodie popularly known as DJ Edita who joined Y FM 97.9 MHz as a Disc Jockey (DJ) two years ago after he emerged as a winner of Y 97.9fm Takoradi’s  exclusive Radio reality Show ‘Y DISCOVERY’ which was aimed at unearthing great Talent i.e. presenters and DJ’s, graduated over the weekend with first class honour.

On November 25, 2017, a graduation ceremony which was held on TTU campus announced the 1st class honour of DJ Edita in Interior Design and Technology. The mention of his name and his class by the Vice Chancellor Rev. Prof Eshun attracted resounding applause from the attendees.

Knowing his demanding schedule at Y FM, many people were shocked how the renowned DJ could graduate with the best class. Again, the stereotype associated with Students who are into Show Business on campus also made thr applause louder.

Four years ago, he had admission to Takoradi Technical University where he read HND in Interior Design and Technology. During his stay on campus, he was tagged as the Best Campus DJ since he was always the obvious choice for disk jockeying during campus events. He gained recognition when he emerged as a winner in the maiden edition of the radio reality Show “Y DISCOVERY.” After working with YFM 97.9 MHz for a while, he has grown an enviable brand from an event DJ to a well groomed Urban Radio DJ.

DJ Edita started his disk Jockey journey about 10 years ago by working with Chorus Sounds, a company based in Accra who are into renting of sounds for events. He was the lead DJ with Chorus Sounds. Due to his hard work and dedication he was one of the few staffers who was able to work with his boss for 10 years. Even till date that he is no more with them he is still contracted to embark on major gigs for the enterprise.

Dj Edita’s dream is to become the best DJ in Ghana and also go into sound engineering because he wants to work with global name like Swizz Beatz one day and also operate his own company in interior designs.

He is currently having his National service on TTU campus and also the official DJ for Friday Night Mix and Y Campus Express which airs on Y97.9fm on Friday 8pm till 12am and on Saturday at 12pm to 3pm respectively.

He is also into music. His current single is ‘Chop Chop’ feat Jaqson. His handle on all platforms is DJJ Edita.
