Traders at Market Circle pay GHc5 each for rituals to appease Market Circle god

Traders at the Takoradi Market Circle have been made to pay 5 cedis each for rituals to appease the Takoradi Market Circle god.

The god reportedly manifested through a Fertish Priestess who had gone to the market a few weeks ago for shopping.

According to the Fertish Priestess, the god has relocated from the market to another place because he had been starved for long and that has accounted for low patronage of the market.

A group of Fertish Priests and Priestesses from Amanful and New Takoradi went to the market early Wednesday morning to perform the necessary rituals to appease the aggrieved god.

Hundreds of traders were left stranded outside the market from 6am till the rituals were completed around 9:30am.

Upon entering the market, the traders were cautioned not to sweep away the mashed yam known in Akan as ?t? that had been sprinkled all over the market.

Sources close to the Market Authorities say the rituals would be performed few hours every morning till Friday before the market is open to traders.
