Police auction abandoned cars

The Police in Brong Ahafo Region are making plans to auction all vehicles that have been abandoned on its premises throughout the region by owners.

They include private, commercial vehicles, as well as motorcycles, tricycles and bicycles.

Regional Police PRO, Chief Inspector Augustine Oppong, told DAILY GUIDE that the drivers of the said seized vehicles breached road safety regulations and transported contrabands.

He said some of the vehicles were used in armed robberies, drug peddling, ‘galamsey’ activities, as well as illegal lumber operation, among others.

He said the public has been given three weeks to go to the various police stations with proper documentations for identification and retrieval of their property or risk losing them for good.

According to the Chief Inspector Oppong, “These vehicles have become nuisance to the police on the various premises and so therefore as part of efforts to decongest police stations, the authorities in the region have decided to invite their owners to come for them come after identification.”
