Most times, celebrities out of shock ask interviewers, “how did you hear about it, who told you this, etc?” This reveals how Celebrities struggle to hide somethings from the cameras and pens.
One person who has been successful in hiding his generous or better yet philanthropic side from the cameras and pens is multiple award winning Artiste and Ghana’s punchline King Kofi Kinaata.
One thing that team members of Kofi Kinaata battle with is what to bring out and what to keep within the corridors of Team Move because Kofi Kinaata will stop any publication on his philanthropy. “He can donate to orphanage and other places that other Celebrities would publish but Kofi will tell you e no dey hia so make we no publish am” a Team Member is quoted.
Kofi Kinaata occasionally pays school fees of needy children in Effiakuma and other parts of the country. Understanding how difficult it is growing up in that suburb of Takoradi, Kofi Kinaata extends a helping hand to a lot of parents and children to help in their upkeep and education.
Prior to his famous ‘Made in Taadi’ Concert in Takoradi in December 2017, Kofi Kinaata visited Highlife legend C.K. Mann who was admitted at the GHPOHA Hospital in Takoradi with some donations. Even though the Public Relations Department of Team Move saw that to be a good story for the concert as it would send good signal to the public, Kofi Kinaata said it is not important to share it publicly. Disappointed as the PR Department was, Boss says ‘so what you fi do!’ (what can you do?)
Close friends who grew up with Kofi Kinaata would tell you, anytime he gives you something the next warning from him is, “Don’t write it on social media.”
According to Kofi Kinaata, a respected songwriter in Ghana who is celebrated for his prowess in storytelling, he is inspired by Matthew 6:3 (But when you give to the needy, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing) not to make all his philanthropy public. He would be quick to quote that scripture to any team member who would argue that sometimes somethings should be in the news.
As the son of a Reverend Minister, Kofi Kinaata who has in-depth knowledge of the Bible and applies it in his daily endeavours often reveals that because of what the Bible says in Matthew 6:3, he is careful what to make public and what not to.
