The FIFA Disciplinary Committee has sanctioned two German officials — Georg Behlau and Ulrich Voigt — with fines of 5,000 Swiss Francs and reprimand respectively.
They were punished for the violation of article 57 of the FIFA Disciplinary Code, which relates to unsporting behavior, during the 2018 FIFA World Cup match between Germany and Sweden.
The match was played on Saturday in Sochi, with the Germans winning 2-1.
In its decision, the FIFA Disciplinary Committee, however, took into consideration the fact that the German officials and the German Football Association apologized for the incident in a timely manner.
It said the Association has also already communicated that none of the two would perform his duties within the stadium premises in the German national team’s next match.
The defending champions are due to face South Korea on Wednesday in Kazan in their final Group F match.
Also, the FIFA Disciplinary Committee has sanctioned a Sweden official, Jan Gustavsson, with a warning for his involvement in the aforementioned incident.
