As part of positioning Ghanaian oil and gas companies for better opportunities in the upstream sector and also provide network avenues for Ghanaian businesses in the oil and gas sector, the Petroleum Commission has flown a total of six (6) media practitioners in Ghana for the maiden edition of oil and gas trade mission in Aberdeen, Scotland.
The trade mission which is the maiden edition has a concentration span of five (5) days in the oil capital of Europe Aberdeen. At the opening ceremony yesterday Monday 11th June, 2018, the Chief Executive of Petroleum Commission, Mr. Egbert Faibille identified areas where huge opportunities exist.
Areas where he revealed opportunities in the upstream sector include materials and procurement, well drilling services, exploration, subsurface, petroleum engineering and seismic services, supply and disposal services, information communication technology (ICT), marine operations and logistic services.
Amongst the participating corporations in the trade mission include The Scottish Development International, Aberdeen-Grampian Chamber of Commerce and the Ghana UK-Ghana Chamber of Commerce and over 50 companies from Ghana.
The role of the media in this trade mission is to cover the maiden edition, to interact with the Scottish media on reportage on oil and gas in respective countries and also visit the Scottish oil and gas industry to have a fair idea of their operations.
Nana Kwame Bezoro, Management Member of Skyy Media Group and a media practitioner who is part of the Ghanaian media delegation told www.233times.net that “It is my aim to learn as much about the upstream oil and gas operations in a matured industry like Scotland and build strong networks with the Scottish media and oil and gas industries. Since Skyy Media Group is the biggest media in the Western and Central Regions, this would help in our reportage of the oil and gas sector and by extension influence how other media in the regions also report on it.”
Deputy Minister for Energy in charge of Petroleum, Dr. Mohammed Amin Adam is the leader of the trade mission.
