Ghana Police partners ECG to collect revenue

The Volta Regional Police Command has pledged its support to the Management of the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG), as the ECG rolls out an intensive revenue mobilization programme.

The nationwide revenue mobilization programme is intended to help the ECG attain its revenue collection targets for the year.

During a familiarization visit to the Volta Regional Police command, the ECG Regional General Manager, Ing. Delali Oklu requested for the support of the Police Service, as the Company embarks on this exercise.

“As part of the programme, ECG staff will visit all houses to assess the integrity of their electricity connections. Staff will also be available in communities to receive payments from defaulting customers, and where there is failure to settle debts; we will be forced to curtail services to them” Ing. Oklu said.

“To prevent disconnected customers from reconnecting themselves under the cover of darkness, a special night monitoring team will be deployed, and they will require Police protection” he added.

The Deputy Volta Regional Police Commander, DCOP F.E. Doku, sitting in for the Regional Commander, recounted the excellent working relations that currently exists between the Command and the ECG, and pledged the full support of the command in this exercise.

“Electricity is a very important resource in security provision and crime prevention so we are duty bound as a security Agency to fully support any institution, especially when their services have a direct impact on security. All District commanders will be duly informed to provide maximum support to officers of the Company, throughout the period of this intensive exercise” DCOP Doku said.

The nationwide intensive revenue mobilization programme began on July 2, 2018.
