Sakara was said to have attacked the police officer after he saw his girlfriend who is a community police personnel at the residence of the police officer.
He suspected the police officer of having a sexual affair with his [Sakara] girlfriend and so he attacked him and the situation resulted in a near bloody clash between the ‘jealous’ Youth organizer and the police officer which led to his arrest.
According to eyewitnesses, the aggrieved youth pelted stones at the officers and threatened to set the building ablaze if the youth organizer was not released from custody.
In a video in circulation on social media, the District Chief Executive Officer for Sawla-Tuna-Kalba is seen in a verbal exchange with some Police officers demanding the immediate release of the constituency Youth Organiser while some of the irate youth who stormed the Police station engaged other officers.
Also, in the two-minute video, a police officer is heard shouting “I will fire you down, I will fire you down,” and blamed the DCE of Sawla for fuelling the attack.
When Graphic Online contacted the District Police Commander, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP), Mr. O.K Boateng, he confirmed the attack but declined to give details.
