Cape Coast: Teacher Licensure Exam candidates left in limbo

Candidates expected to sit the Teacher Licensure Examination at the Ola College of Education in Cape Coast have been left bemused following a delay in the start of first paper.

The first examination (Essential Skills) was expected to have started at 9 am and ended at 10.15am but as of 1pm it had still not commenced.

According to Graphic Online’s Shirley Asiedu-Addo who is at the Ola College of Education, the auditorium where the teachers are expected to write the exams has been prepared with index numbers on tables but the students have not been allowed into the hall.

Candidates say they have been given very little information on what is happening. “We have been told to wait but we don’t know for how long we have to wait,” one of them said.

The Minister of State in charge of Tertiary Education, Prof Kwesi Yankah is at the college but has not commented on the delay.

The Principal of the Ola College of Education, Rev Sister Elizabeth Amoako-Arhin told the media that although there were a few unresolved challenges, the examination would commence as soon as they were resolved.

The papers later arrived around 11.30am but the examinations have still not started.

Some candidates were sighted by our reporter hanging around with some reading their books.

More to follow…
