Police raid brothel in Koforidua; arrest 12 ‘sex workers’

Police in the Eastern Region have arrested a total of 12 persons for their alleged involvement in operating and patronizing brothel services in Koforidua.

The suspects include a 61 year old man Ekar Anthony who is said to be the owner of the brothel popularly called Bula Spot at Nsukwao in the regional capital, and 11 other suspects, 6 men and 5 women.

Checks indicates that the suspect has been operating the brothel for quite some time now with a number of young girls, mostly Nigerians being his sex workers.

Confirming the arrest to Citi News, the Eastern Regional Police Public Relations Officer DSP Ebenezer Tetteh, said the police acted on reliable information to effect the arrest.

“Police on September 15th acting upon information arrested a 61 year old man Anthony Ekar the owner of Bula Spot a popular joint at Nsukwao because he had turned the spot into a brothel which is against the laws of the land. When a team of police and community protection personnel proceeded to the scene they also arrested some male suspects Gideon Syivor Mendah 42 years, Adjei Michael 40 years, Danquah Williams 24 years, Torgbui Ekpo 23 years, Ayogame Kwaku 30 years and Musah Kwame who is 24 years”.

“The team also arrested other female counterparts in the building who were believed to be engaging for sex. They are Mary Wondalo 39 years, Monday Joyce 23 years, Rachel Adofo 26 years, Abiaw Constance 20 years, and Ayisi Paulina also 20 years old”.

DSP Ebenezer Tetteh said, “Further investigations and search conducted on them at the scene could not lead to traces of illicit drugs, but they are all in our custody as we continue with our investigations”.
