Made in Taadi Concert Speech by Nana Kwesi Coomson (Public and Media Relations Officer of the Made in Taadi Concert)

Good morning fellow colleagues in the media, Artistes and well-wishers, afehyia pa! It is always a pleasure to meet you to discuss issues that affect this region we all love dearly. Thank you for coming here at this time which is prime time on radio, peak traffic time online, busy and creative time in the studios, we cherish your time here dearly.

As the Public and Media Relations Officer for this biggest Artiste concert in the region, whilst taking the invitation letters and also calling some of you for this press conference, a lot of you expressed concerns about last year’s edition. I noted them down but I would be very glad if we could all share them here as the whole team is present. It is indeed great to know that about 98% of you here were at the maiden edition so we welcome any suggestions on how to make this year’s better.

Before I come to the details of this year’s ‘Made in Taadi Concert,’ let me quickly mention that ‘Made in Taadi Concert’ had a nomination at the Ghana Event Awards this year. I believe this is a great feat knowing that a maiden edition of a concert could compete events that are into their 4th and 7th editions, we all deserve a round of applause.

Just like last year’s we are humbly asking the media to again partner us to make this year’s ‘Made in Taadi Concert’ bigger. It was indeed overwhelming the support we had from the media and we are indebted to you for the welcoming arms you always give us.

Now to the details of this year’s ‘Made in Taadi Concert’

Details

This year’s has an entirely different concept from last year’s. The 22nd December event are two parts; the first part which will span from 10am to 5pm will be for kids and their family. We call it the family day out. There are arrangements for kids corner for face painting, bouncy castles, lime and spoon competition amongst other interesting kids activities. Since the family day out will be both educative and entertaining, there would be exhibition booths to display the culture of the Western Region; narrating the history of the region, our chiefs, food, dance, festivals, music, past heroes and heroines amongst others.

There would also be resource personnel to talk to the kids on various subjects like ‘planning your study and social life,’ ‘how to start a business at an early stage,’ ‘how to have personal timetable,’ amongst others. The Children’s President, Funny Face and Kwadwo Nkansah Lil Win would be present to also engage the kids and parents in the first part of the concert. Award winning DJ Switch and Samuel Owusu, winner of Talented Kids will also be present.

There would also be a Fante essay competition by Students from upper primary to Junior High School on ‘Me Sekonde-Takoradze.’ This essay is for the Students to write in Fante about the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolis and what they find interesting in the twin city as well as what they wish for the city. This essay should be handwritten and submitted physically or scanned and emailed to [email protected]. The winner will receive a cash prize as well some packages from the Team Move Management.

DJS

We are still in talks with other DJs for this whole day concert but so far we can confirm DJ Page and DJ Kenny. I can assure you that not less than 5 DJs would be engaged for this concert.

Security

It is of paramount interest to us to make sure that everyone who is present is under strict security surveillance. As some of you saw the stories online, we have informed the Western Regional Police Commander, DCOP R.V. Djedjoe about this concert and he has assured us of full security presence there. Like last year’s we will also engage the military for total protection of the area and everyone who patronize the concert as we have been assured by the Airforce Commander this year too.

For a concert that attracts over 20,000 audience, we won’t leave any security detail unexamined.

STMA Support

The Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolitan Assembly has been very supportive since the inception of this concert. Last year we had their full support and like again you saw the stories online, we have been to the MCE, Hon. K.K. Sam who is a former Fante Teacher of Kofi Kinaata and he has assured us of their unflinching support. How many of us saw the MCE himself at last year’s event? It is very fulfilling to know that you have the support of these great men and we are very grateful for their assuring support.

Hotel Support

We are grateful to Nakoff Chinese Hotel, Raybow International Hotel, Hilcrest Hotel, Hardings Lodge and Ibisa Hotel for their support

MCs

The MCs for this year’s edition are Yoofi Eyeson, Chelsey Sey, Too Much, PM and Maame Esi Forson

Social/Traditional Media Publicity

The PR department led by myself have put together a team of active social media users. These users have very active social media pages and are more than happy to help this concert. To ensure that all the PR kits are uniform the releases, posts and social media updates will come from the PRO.

Since we have two Saturdays, including this very Saturday for the event, we are commencing a radio tour to all the entertainment review shows in the Metropolis. Since we have some hosts of these shows here, we humbly ask you to help with the mentions of the concert before and after the interviews.

For concentration on the event, we humbly entreat you to also carve your questions around the concert during the interviews but you could focus on the Kinaata talent and songs after the concert. We humbly ask this.

In as much as the pre publicity is important to us, we are also asking you to help us with the post publicity as well. Feel free to objectively and constructively critique the concert on your various platforms to help us improve on subsequent ones.

After this briefing, we are visiting head teachers of some selected schools in the Metropolis, there would be daily countdown on social media, release of final art work, radio tour, TV Commercial on GH One, posters and billboards in the Metropolis, flyers at Anaji Choice Mart and Shoprite inside the Takoradi Mall.

On this note, I hereby announce that Made in Taadi 2018 is officially launched!
