What Prez. Akufo-Addo said about the Creative Arts Sector in the 2019 SONA

The President of the Republic of Ghana, H.E. Nana Akufo-Addo today 21st February, 2019 delivered to the Parliament of Ghana the 2019 State of the Nation’s Address (SONA) as mandated by Article 67 of the 1992 constitution of Ghana.

The SONA mainly covers the covering economic, social, and financial state of the country. The Creative Arts Sector was highlighted in this year’s SONA and in the speech delivered to the august house, the President read (unedited);

“Mr. Speaker, we are continuing with initiatives to improve the Creative Arts Sector. We have also worked to finalise the Creative Arts Bill, leading to the setting up of the Creative Arts Fund. For the first time, in 2018, Government provided support to the Creative Arts Council, and the Creative Arts Masterclass, to build capacity of Creative Arts practitioners, has also commenced. The Eastern Regional Theatre has been completed, and work is currently ongoing towards the construction of the Kumasi theatre.”
