“Now like he (Dr. Kweku Afriyie) has done, my doors are always going to be open to all of you so that you will continue to give the input you’ve given to him to be successful in the Western Region. Furthermore, I also want to assure you that I am a very simple person like Dr. Kweku Afriyie so open up and share your ideas for the growth and development of Western Region” Hon. Dr. Kobby Okyere Darko-Mensah at a send-off ceremony held at the Western Regional Coordinating Council on Friday 5th April, 2019 for the outgoing Western Regional Minister, Dr. Kweku Afriyie.
Hailing the credentials of Dr. Afriyie at the ceremony, Hon. Kobby Okyere Darko-Mensah said he has observed how issues of the Western Region are of paramount interest to Dr. Afriyie anytime they met the President of the Republic and how he presented his cases concerning the region.
According to Hon. Okyere Darko-Mensah “Dr. Kweku Afriyie is one of the champions of the region. In fact on the number of occasions that we have travelled with the President, even though he was representing the President, he told the President publicly that he was rather representing the people of Western Region therefore anytime we went to the President, he will always be there to tell him the problems of the region to make a case for Western Region.”
“I believe that it is in that same tangent that my vision for Western Region has also been carved around; that if Western Region works, Ghana will work and therefore as today we are celebrating him (Dr. Afriyie) it is genuine and proper that we do so happily” Hon. Kobby Okyere Darko-Mensah added.
Hon. Dr. Kobby Okyere Darko-Mensah doubles as the Member of Parliament for the Takoradi Constituency. He leaves the Aviation Ministry where he was the Deputy Minister.
