At a colourful ceremony on Thursday 4th April, 2019 at the Takoradi Airport where the new Western Regional Minister, Hon. Kobby Okyere Darko Mensah was welcomed by the people of Western Region, the Regional Minister who spoke briefly to those present affirmed his promise of making good use of the resources in the region to the benefit of all.
“Everyone knows that there are a lot of resources in the Western Region and therefore we cannot sit on resources and still be poor, it is time that we move forward. I believe you heard me during the vetting; what is important to me is that we put all our resources to good use” Hon. Kobby Okyere Darko Mensah emphasized.
“Our resources like our Chiefs, our private sector, NGOs, media and all the people of Western Region, we should put everything to good use for the benefit of the region. And again, individual works we want to revive. I believe if we position ourselves well, we will be able to get some of the jobs that would come to the region so that all the money will remain in the region. The private enterprise is of paramount interest to me” Hon. Okyere Darko added.
According to the Western Regional Minister who also doubles as the Member of Parliament for Takoradi Constituency, the youth of the Region is also his concern. “The youth are my concern. In Ghana, the youth are about 60% so if we are able to tackle the issue of jobs for the youth, we will all be safe” the Regional Minister listed the key areas he is specifically focusing on as the newly appointed Regional Minister.
