Daniel Osei, a final year psychology student, was on Saturday night assaulted by some unidentified armed men, who inflicted machete wounds on his head, hand and leg.
The students, who are alarmed by the unfortunate incident, have, therefore, taken to social media to mount pressure on the university authorities to take the necessary steps to immediately address the recent state of insecurity in the school.
Vice-Chancellor Prof Ebenezer Oduro Owusu had said the management of the university will intensify security measures to reduce such incidents.
Prof Oduro Owusu said plans have been made for strong collaboration with the Ghana Police Service to beef up security at the university.
A notice from the leadership of the student body has also called for calm ahead of their upcoming exams.
The Students’ Representative Council (SRC) asked the management to, without delay, fix the streetlights on the stretch the incident occurred.
