Ghana music needs more award schemes – Richie Mensah
Richie Mensah of Lynx Entertainment has suggested that, Ghana should have plenty award schemes so that artistes won’t rely on only the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards organised by Charterhouse.
According to Richie, when you travel outside there are so many schemes that awards artistes based on different mentality, approach and direction and it’s good for the industry.
Richie made this suggestion when Amansan Krakye of Radio Central asked if the Ghanaian music industry needs other schemes aside Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA).
“I think we need more award schemes. What happens is that every award scheme have their mentality and their direction. When you outside we have MTV awards, America Music Awards, Grammys, BET, MOBO awards and so many of them. Having these different award schemes means that different types of people are awarded for what they are doing.” he opined.
But in Ghana, because it’s not many, everyone is relying on the main award to be able to be recognized. So I think we need more award schemes that have different approach so that everyone knows that their style of music and how they are received in the industry, they can be recognized for their works”,he added.
Richie Mensah who is vying for MUSIGA vice president is currently on a national campaign tour and his next location is Central region.
