These 5 people helped my career most – Kofi Kinaata reveals

Real name Martin King Arthur, multiple award winning Artiste Kofi Kinaata has revealed in an interview on Joy Prime with Ibrahim Ben-Bako the host of ‘The Red Carpet’ the top 5 people who have been very instrumental to his music career.

He gave reasons for listing those 5 people who have helped his career. The 5 names Kofi Kinaata mentioned were (not in any order);

  1. Tony Pun
  2. Samini
  3. Castro Destroyer
  4. Pounds
  5. Oheneba Kwame Amofa

According to Kofi Kinaata, Tony Pun is someone who has an enviable record of managing Mugeez, Stonebwoy, Yaa Pono so he shaped him with his strict guidelines, strategic engineering of his brand position that brought out the best in him.

Samini and his Highgrade Family Manager Tony Pun contacted Kofi Kinaata after watching series of his freestyle videos and performances online and handed him 5 year contract under his label Samini Music/Highgrade Family label. This introduced him to the national and international scene.

Castro Destroyer according to Kofi Kinaata was his childhood role model. Kofi Kinaata as a child saw Castro perform on big stages across Ghana and also played football with his friends in Takoradi. That was an inspiration to him. Castro called Kofi Kinaata and other Westside Legacy Artistes one day for a feature which got him closer to his role model. Also, Kinaata blew unto the national scene with ‘Odo Pa,’ a classic Highlife song by Castro and Asamoah Gyan.

Oheneba Kwame Amofa was the host of the second Kasahari rap battle on Melody FM in Takoradi where Kofi Kinaata started his music journey as a Rap Artiste. Oheneba Kwame Amofa gave him the opportunity to exhibit his talent to the people of Takoradi for months. That was where Kofi Kinaata started winning the hearts of music lovers in Takoradi.

Dr. Pounds also gave Kofi Kinaata a platform to exhibit his rap prowess on his Cape Coast Kasahari rap battle on Eagle FM in Cape Coast. Kofi Kinaata travelled every weekend from Takoradi to Cape Coast to rap on the radio programme. That was where he won more Fante music lovers with his unique rap skills.
