Angry side chick burns down lover’s house for not picking her calls

A man woke up to find his house engulfed in flames after his ‘side chick’ set it alight when he stood her up for a late-night booty call.

Taija Russell, 29, is said to have bombarded the unnamed man with furious text messages when he fell asleep before she arrived.

She allegedly moaned in one that ‘You wasted my money to come out here’ and threatened in another: ‘I swear to God I hope you die.’

Russell then stormed off to the local petrol station in Woodbury, New Jersey, where she picked up some lighter fluid and matches before heading back and setting the fire, it is claimed.

The city’s police department said the man woke up around half an hour later, at approximately 4.30am, to find the flames blocking his exit.

He managed to escape by removing a window frame and clambering out through the opening.

According to court files the man was still ‘covered head to toe in soot and ash’ wearing just a t-shirt when he raced to a nearby police station and ‘frantically’ raised the alarm.

He was treated for smoke inhalation and second-degree burns.

Firefighters battled the blaze and luckily rescued his dog, but ‘the residence and its contents were completely destroyed’.

Russell is now being held on charges of attempted homicide, aggravated arson, aggravated assault, endangering or creating substantial risk of death and criminal mischief.

Her alleged victim told investigators he had invited her over because she was a ‘side chick whom he had been having a sexual relationship with’, the legal documents said.

CCTV footage showed her outside his home ‘just prior to the fire’ as well as buying items at a nearby Conoco gas station, police said. The man and his dog ‘are both recovering well’, the department added.
