As part of celebrating organizations committed to remarkable business standards, the Ghana Business Standard Awards on 16th August, 2019 awarded outstanding leaders in Ghana.
Amongst the leaders who received award at the Ghana Business Standard Awards is the Chief Executive Officer of the Food and Drugs Authority (FDA), Mrs Delese Darko who was awarded the Female Business Leader of the year 2019.
At the Movenpick Ambassador Hotel in Accra where the event was held, Mrs. Darko was acknowledged for her superlative supervision of Ghana’s FDA which is mandated to ensure public health and safety.
Under the leadership of Mrs. Darko, the FDA has attracted enviable recognition from the general public through its regular public engagement and education to ensure that the public is well educated on health and safety.
Mrs. Darko is a Pharmacist with over 25 years’ experience in the regulation of medicines with respect to clinical trials regulation, marketing authorization and post-approval safety monitoring of medicines.
The alum of Achimota School has played key leadership roles in the regulation of clinical trials in Africa, resulting in the FDA designated by the NEPAD/AMRH as a Regional Centre for Regulatory Excellence (RCORE) in Clinical Trials and Drug Registration.
Mrs. Darko serves on several international and local advisory committees including the CIOMS Vaccine Safety Working Group, the African Regulators’ Network and the Technical Coordinating Committee of the African Vaccines Regulatory Forum of which she is the current chairperson.
