Takoradi: 24yr old arrested with fake currency

Vigilance of traders at the Takoradi Market circle has led to the arrest of a 24 year old unemployed who has been using fake currencies to buy from unsuspecting traders.

The suspect, Papa Arnold , believed to be a resident of Takoradi was arrested around 10am on Wednesday, August 28, 2019.

Some traders at the Market Circle told CONNECT FM’s OMANBAPA morning show host Nhyiraba Paa Kwesi Simpson the suspect first bought five cedi worth of onion from a trader, paid with fake 20 cedi currency note and collected a change.

He went to another trader few meters away to buy Tomatoe paste but when he issued another fake currency note to the trader she noticed it was fake and immediately raised an alarm leading to his arrest.

He has been handed over to the Market circle police who are currently investigating the case A total of 180 fake currency consisting of four 20 cedi notes and two 50 ghana cedi notes were retrieved from him upon search
