Takoradi Technical University to introduce Chinese Language as a programme

Takoradi Technical University is set to introduce the official language of China also known as “Standard Mandarin language” in the Center for Languages and Liberal Studies.

According to the Dean, Center for Languages and Liberal Studies (CELLIBS), Dr. Kofi Asante – Kyei, talks are far advanced with the Chinese ambassador to Ghana, Mr. Shi Ting Wang, to Kick Start the program to allow interested Students and the general public to take full advantage of studying the program.

In an exclusive interview with Beachfmonline, Dr Kofi Asante –Kyei spoke about plans, preparation and the significance of such a move by the Center.

“We have signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Chinese ambassador, they have introduced a similar course in the University of Cape Coast and we are also waiting to kick start our own with a sizeable number  of students who will show interest”.

He denied claims; the decision was influenced by the Chinese government

“We are not running the program because we have been unduly influenced by the Chinese, we as center have recognized the increasing number of Ghanaians moving to China to study and the daily transactions happening between us and the Chinese therefore it is significant to bridge the language barrier”.

The program is expected to be run on weekends if it starts.
