NaCCA Boss Dr. Prince Armah to contest Kwesimintsim Constituency NPP Primaries

Executive Secretary of the National Council for Curriculum Assessment (NaCCA), Dr. Prince Armah has formally announced his intention to contest the Kwesimintsim Constituency New Patriotic Party (NPP) Primaries slated for April 2020.

On his active Facebook page, Dr. Armah nicknamed Kwesimintsim Fresh Prince updated that “I will formally enter the contest for the New Patriotic Party Primaries in the Kwesimintsim constituency. This decision is the culimination of prayer and introspection, engagement with various stakeholders and the agitation of my fellow party members in the constituency.”

In addition he added that, “I am taking this step because I believe that Kwesimintsim has tremendous potential and that the right kind of leadership will unleash this potential, improve lives and give the next generation hope for a much better future. I am fully aware of the gravity of the challenge and the toll it will exact on me but it is not in my nature to run from challenges.”

Dr. Armah who will contest incumbent Joe Mensah further revealed that “Politics can – and indeed should – be the vehicle through which we deliver the massive change that our country needs. In my travels, I have seen how a nation’s best and brightest can, driven by patriotism rather than personal interest, make lives better for all their people. I think Ghana has the human and natural resources necessary to provide a much better life its citizens. And I think those of us who have been lucky to gain education, experience and expertise should place ourselves at the disposal of the nation and for the benefit of the especially the next generation.”

Dr. Prince H. Armah is an education, research and evaluation consultant, with teaching experience in the United Kingdom (UK) and Ghana contexts, spanning a period of over a decade. His scholarship centres around intersections of education policy and practice, focusing on educational achievement, instruction and reform. He has expertise in quantitative and qualitative methods and data analysis, having been trained at the Doctoral Training Centres (DTCs) of the Universities of Nottingham, Edinburgh and Manchester with funding from the Economic and Social Research Council, UK. He also has deep understanding of Ghana’s education and socio-economic reforms and has both theoretical and practical skills in project management and implementation, and in high quality reporting on research and evaluation assignments covering education in Ghana. Aside teaching engagements, he is a member of the Technical Team of the Ministry of Education leading the development and finalization of Ghana’s Education Strategic Plan (ESP) 2018-2030, and associated Medium-Term Development Plan 2018-2021. He is also a member of the Adhoc Initial Teacher Education (ITE) Technical Group leading the curriculum writing and implementation of the ITE reforms of the Government of Ghana under the T-TEL Project.

Dr. Prince H. Armah has also been involved in several consultancy assignments for several institutions including the Ministry of Education/Ghana Education Service, STS-International/FHI360, Mott Mac trading as Cambridge Education, National Council for Tertiary Education and the National Council for Curriculum and Assessment, Colleges of Education, among others, undertaking desk and technical reviews of varied issues in the education sector, data analysis, expert advisory services and producing policy brief, document and reports. He is a highly proactive, forward looking and an excellent communicator, with the ability to disseminate information and knowledge whilst listening and putting into practice advice and instructions.

Dr. Prince H. Armah has over 25 publications and has frequently appeared and/or been quoted severally in local and international media (online, radio, TV etc) and stakeholders forums, providing strategic advice to the government, educational agencies and institutions in Ghana. He is member of several international organisations including the General Teaching Council for Scotland (GTCS), British Society for Research into Learning Mathematics (BSRLM) UK, the Education Institute of Scotland (EIS) UK, and the Applied Quantitative Methods Network (AQMEN) UK. He holds a PhD degree in Mathematics Education from the University of Aberdeen, UK with specialization in Curriculum, Pedagogy and Educational Policy.
