Western Region Deputy Director of the Ghana Health Service Dr. Kofi Asemanyi-Mensah has revealed that all eight suspected coronavirus cases from health facilities have tested negative.
“Here in the Western Region, we have no confirmed case,” Dr Asemanyi-Mensah stressed.
“We had several suspected cases which samples we’ve taken. But so far, all the samples sent to Noguchi, none of them have been confirmed to be a Covid-19 case. There are around 7 to 8 suspected cases.”
He indicated that the cases are scattered all over the place “from Sekondi-Takoradi, some from Tarkwa Nsuaem and few other places”.
Dr. Asemanyi-Mensah revealed further that majority of the tested cases were foreign nationals.
“Some are from Ghanaians but so far majority of the suspected case are from foreign nationals.”
Preparations
Dr. Kofi Asemanyi-Mensah assured that the region has put in place the necessary measures to help deal with the Corona Virus.
“We have done our training for all the districts. We have also received logistics from the national level which we have deployed. We have also told all the facilities to have an isolation and where necessary a quarantine center. And the compliance level is encouraging.”
