Takoradi: Death toll in Apremdo fire accident reaches 2

Another life has been lost to the fire accident involving the two diesel fuel tankers at Apremdo; a suburb of Sekondi-Takoradi in the Western Region. The deceased [name withheld], was an apprentice to one of the tanker drivers. He was aged 17, and a Muslim.

Reports from the Municipal Coordinator for the National Disaster Management Organisation at Effia Kwesimintsim Municipal Assembly, Henry Kwoffie, has it that, the deceased was hospitalised at Effia Nkwanta Regional Hospital, after sustaining serious burns from the accident.

On that unfortunate day, a two year old boy who was asleep in one of the containers that got burnt with the fuel tankers, also lost his life. He was burnt beyond recognition. His remains were only spotted after fire officers had calmed the blazing fire.

This brings to total two deaths, associated with the deadly fire accident that happened on Wednesday 6 May, 2020.

Another victim, who also sustained injury whiles trying to save the 17 year old boy, is also receiving treatment at the hospital.
