856 COVID-19 patients discharged in Western Region

The Western Regional Health Directorate has revealed that some eight hundred and fifty-six (856) persons have been discharged from the various isolation or treatment centers in the Western Region.

According to the explanation from the Health Directorate, these persons have since their first positive test for COVID-19 showed no symptoms after the expiration of a 14 day period from the date the test was taken.

“The GHS, after a stakeholders meeting, agreed and stipulated that all cases after 14 days from date of testing positive, and without any symptoms, should be discharged home after samples have been taken for retesting. These persons poses no risk to other individuals, as they cannot pass on the virus to others.”

“After 14 days they no longer present any risks of passing on the virus to others” it added.

Western Region has recorded 993 cases with 21 recoveries and one death.
