The Electoral Commission of Ghana will end it’s mass voter registration exercise today. All eligible applicants have up to 5 pm today to register for a voter identification card have just today to register and secure the right to vote in the December 7 polls. This is because the Electoral Commission (EC) brings to an end the mass voter registration exercise today in all centers across the country.
Furtherance to which, the EC has announced to the public to take the opportunity to register on this final day. Already, as reported by the commission over 15 million voters have been registered as at end of the fifth phase. This is quite a great success, as the commission anticipated to register about 16 million voters at the end of the exercise.
The data on the sixth-phase is expected to raise about 2 million or more voters in addition to the tally.
To this end, realizing the realities of some challenges applicant might have experienced in accessing the registration centers over the 38 day period, the EC will carry out a mop-up exercise in all district offices on Saturday 8 and Sunday 9th August 2020. All applicants would be subjected to the same requirements as the mass registration exercise during the mop-up.
