Ghana records 8 more COVID-19 deaths

Eight more patients receiving treatment for Covid-19 have succumbed to the infection, according to the Ghana Health Service (GHS).

The deaths have increased the toll to 239 as at August 17.

Meanwhile, confirmed cases of Covid-19 have risen to 42,653 after 121 new cases were recorded by the GHS.

Clinical recoveries from Covid-19 have also increased to 40,567 with an active case count of 1,847.

Regional Breakdown

The Greater Accra Region has counted 21,212 Covid-19 cases, followed by the Ashanti Region, with 10,569 cases and the Western Region with 2,899 cases.

The Eastern Region has 2,097 cases, Central Region,1,801 cases, Bono East Region, 720 cases and the Volta Region,  642 cases.

The Western North Region has 580 cases, Northern Region, 489 cases, Ahafo Region, 485 cases and the
Bono Region, 480 cases.

The Upper East Region, 282 cases, Oti Region, 229 cases, Upper West Region has 88 cases, Savannah Region, 62 cases and the North East Region nine cases.
