The Chief Executive Officer of Focus One Group of Companies, Mr. Kwame Adu Mante is asking the government to rather consider giving Ghanaian start-ups tax holidays and not conglomerates and big corporations who operate under the Freezones and other direct investments.
Speaking at this year’s Made in Taadi Seminar organized by Kofi Kinaata and his Team Move Management, Mr. Adu Mante mentioned that it is unfair to consider a company that has an investment of over $500,000 for a tax break and rather burden a Ghanaian start-up with taxes.
Touching on the topic ‘Pitfalls of Entrepreneurs,’ Mr. Adu Mante mentioned that, there are two factors that affect an Entrepreneur – internal and external. According to him, policies of governments are some of the external factors that an entrepreneur has little or no control over.
Mentioning some of the policies of government that give undue advantage of foreign companies that operate in Ghana over Ghanaian start-ups, he posited that, tax holidays if considered for start-ups in Ghana could help a lot of businesses spring up and also scale up.
The serial entrepreneur extraordinaire used his personal experiences to advise the youth to watch out for some slippery grounds in entrepreneurship.
Mr. Adu Mante is the CEO of Focus One Media, operators of Pluzz FM in Accra, Spice and Beach FMs in Takoradi and Orange FM in Kumasi. He also owns Focus One Construction and Focus One Distribution.
This year’s Made in Taadi Seminar was held at the Best Western Plus Atlantic Hotel on 22nd December in Takoradi
