Relocation of traders from Takoradi Market Circle commences on February 15

The leadership of the Sekondi Takoradi Metropolitan Assembly (STMA) has expressed its readiness to relocate traders at the Central Business District of Takoradi market circle. The traders are being relocated to a temporal structure to enable the reconstruction works on the market circle project to begin.

In a press engagement, the Sekondi Takoradi Metropolitan Works Engineer, Mr. Tei Kpoti indicated that works on the temporary structure have been completed. According to him, the relocation process will commence from February 15 to March 5, 2021.  He adds that the activities of the traders who have been registered with the assembly for the relocation will be regulated.

The assembly further added that other stakeholders have been engaged to ensure a smooth process of the exercise.

“We are still within the time frame. We are moving the traders quickly before the rain sets in. work on the main Market Circle has to begin in earnest that is why we have decided to relocate them now”. Mr. Tei Kpoti noted.

Mr. Kpoti adds that the process will also affect the movement of vehicles to the central business district. He however added that the assembly has instituted measures to curtail the challenges that may arise as a result of that.

“The duration of the construction is three years and we hope to engage all stakeholders on their suggestions, questions, and contributions for a successful take-off of the project”. Mr. Tei Kpoti added.
