Germany’s Coronavirus lockdown has been extended by three weeks, running into the Easter.
The extension has become necessary due to surge in new infections.
Germany is taking stringent measures in responding to a third wave of Coronavirus infections.
German Chancellor, Angela Merkel, held talks with regional leaders in Germany.
After the talks, she announced that current Coronavirus measures in German would remain in force until April 18, 2021.
Reports say Coronavirus Restrictions in Germany will be tougher from 1-5 April, 2022. Around that period, most shops are expected to be closed and gatherings also are expected to be limited.
Announcing the extension in the lockdown period, Mrs Merkel noted that Germany was now in a “very serious” situation.
“Case numbers are rising exponentially and intensive care beds are filling up again,” she told a live-televised news conference on Tuesday, March 23, 2021.

Also, 7,485 infections have been reported in the past 24 hours as well as 250 deaths.
