Massimiliano Allegri is set to replace club legend Andrea Pirlo as Juventus manager.
The 53-year-old has verbally agreed to return and will sign a contract on Thursday.
Allegri is returning to the club two years after he was fired. Allegri won five successive Serie A titles, but his shortcomings in the Champions League forced the club to part ways with him in 2019 and go for Maurizio Sarri who was sacked after only one season.
Sarriās replacement, Pirlo was dismal in his first spell, with Juventus humbled by Porto in the Champions League last 16 and lost Serie A to Inter Milan as they finished fourth after nine consecutive titles. Though Pirlo won the Italian Cup and Super Cup, the club has decided to terminate his contract.
