Several African leaders are expected to attend the Paris Summit on Africa.
Hosting the summit is French President, Emmanuel Macron.
Among other things, the summit set to begin on Tuesday, May 18, 2021, will aim to help Sudan into a new era and to fill a financing shortfall of almost $300 billion caused by the Covid-19 pandemic.
Chiefs of global financial institutions are also expected to attend the twin summit meetings.
Today, May 17, several heads of state will attend a conference aimed at rallying support for the Sudan government under Prime Minister Abdalla Hamdok in the transition after the 2019 ousting of longtime President, Omar al-Beshir.
This will be followed by a summit Tuesday on African economies that will try to fill a financing shortfall of almost $300 billion caused by the Covid-19 pandemic.
Both meetings are to be held in a temporary exhibition centre under the shadow of the Eiffel Tower in Paris.
Among the Presidents attending are Nigeria’s Muhammadu Buhari, and Ghana’s Nana Akufo-Addo.
