Court throws out Odartey Lamptey ex wife mansion request

The Court of Appeal has yet again thrown out an appeal filed by   Gloria Appiah, against his ex-husband Nii Odartey Lamptey, to own the former Black Stars player’s seven-bedroom East Legon mansion.

Last year, the Court of Appeal threw out an appeal filed by the ex-wife of the former Aston Villa man to posses the plush residence as part of her alimony.

The FIFA U-17 World Cup winner (1991) speaking to Kasapa FM   in a post-court proceedings interview said, “It’s been eight years of litigation but I am grateful to God for always being there for me. Few people survive this kind of situation, but thank Him I am alive and kicking, I will also want to use this opportunity to thank each and everyone who supported me throughout this battle.”

In June 2017, the Accra High Court Judge, Justice Cecilia Don-Chebe Agbevey, who put finality to the winding legal battle, ordered the estranged wife to vacate Lamptey’s seven bed-room mansion at East Legon but must settle her with alimony of GH¢ 200,000.00, a car and Odartey’s four-bedroom house located in Dome.

The beleaguered ex-wife appeared unsatisfied with the ruling, and went for a review of the verdict with the aim of getting Lamptey’s mansion as part of her entitlements, but the Appeals Court threw out her plea.

All three judges who sat on the matter ruled in favour of the ex-youth football icon and have asked Gloria to, as matter of urgency, move out with the speed of lightening.

He added, “I thank my lawyers – Kizito Beyuo, Iris K. and Aggrey-Orleans for a great job.

“It’s my prayer that nobody experiences this kind of situation because it can easily ruin your life.”

Lamptey now has three beautiful children – two girls and a boy with movie star Ruweida Yakubu.

In 2013, reports emerged that DNA tests had uncovered the fact that the couple’s three children were not indeed fathered by Lamptey.

Gloria demanded 50% of Lamptey’s estate and other properties which he hotly disputed by asking the High Court to allow the DNA results to be entered in evidence.
