Takoradi: Identity of Apremdo man who killed girlfriend’s mother revealed

Emmanuel Kwofie, Popularly known as Kilo, stabbed himself to death after shooting his girlfriend’s mother, Madam Elizabeth Nkrumah, to death in Apremdo on Sunday, August 15.

According to a Daily Graphic report, Emmanuel who recently returned from Germany after a five years stay is an ex convict who was jailed in 2013, after being arrested by the Winneba Police for robbing residents and raping his female victims.

He was arrested with other two accomplices identified as Alfred Mensah, 21 and Benedict Acquah (alias Boboski), all natives of Apremdo.

According to information gathered, Kwofie, who was previously engaged in galamsey and cable theft, lured Boboski and Alfred into stealing cables in Takoradi.

When they got to know that the public had got wind of their criminal activities, Boboski convinced his accomplices to relocate to Winneba to continue their criminal acts.

The Swedru Divisional Police Commander at that time, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Richard Nana Asomah, disclosed that, Emmanuel and his gang engaged in 17 robberies, with 14 females being raped after their arrest.

However, speaking on the incident which led to the death of Madam Elizabeth Nkrumah, the brother of the deceased, Ebusuapayin Badu, disclosed that, Emmanuel used to date his niece which both of them had a son together. The family then disagreed on a marriage between the two parties because of the former’s bad reputation.

He did not give up on his pursuit to marry his girlfriend even after the family’s disagreement.

Mr. Badu explained that, on Sunday, August 15, Emmanuel visited Madam Elizabeth’s apartment in Apremdo, in the Effia-Kwesimintsim Municipality at about 10pm for unknown reasons.

Emmanuel used the back door of the apartment as an entry point which made Madam Elizabeth to think a robber has broken in. She approached and he shot her in the left thigh after which he also stabbed himself.

Both of them were rushed to the Kwesimintsim Government Hospital, but could not survive.
