Veep Bawumia’s mother Hajia Mariama dies

Hajia Mariama Bawumia (alias Maame), the mother of the Vice-President Dr. Mahamamudu Bawumia has passed on after a brief illness in Accra, family sources said.

Hajia Bawumia died aged 82.

She had been unwell and hospitalised over the past few weeks.

During her 80th birthday in 2019, Dr Bawumia in a Facebook post described her as “the pillar of my life.”

“I always thank the Almighty God for giving me such a caring and supportive mother. She has always been there for us. The pillar,” he said in the post then.
