NDC youth wing to protest against e-levy on Feb. 10

Youth Wing of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has notified the Ghana Police Service of its intention to hit the streets of Accra on Thursday February 10, 2022 over the Electronic Transaction Levy also known as E-levy.

In a letter to the Ghana Police Service from the party, the group noted that the demonstration dubbed “Yentua Demonstration” will start from 7 am to midday at Obra Spots, Kwame Nkrumah Circle.

According to the party’s National Youth Organiser, George Opare Addo, the protest is to put pressure on government to rescind it desperate efforts on the electronic levy, end widespread corruption, redeem young people from mass unemployment, pay outstanding arrears to workers and end the UTAG endless strike immediately.

He added that the young people are fed up and resist across the country the continuous deterioration of governance of this country.

“In furtherance to that I write to notify you on behalf of NDC Youth Wing in accordance with Section 1 of the Public Order Act, 1994 Act (491) to embark on a protest dubbed Yentua Demonstration on Thursday February 10, 2022,” the statement said.

The supporters will subsequently, meet at the Jubilee House to present a petition to President Akufo-Addo and Speaker Alban Kingsford Sumana Bagbin.

The NDC Youth also disclosed its willingness to meet the police for further deliberation on the said protest.
