Constant rainfall has made it difficult for Contractor to return to Agona-Tarkwa and Nkroful-Ketan roads – WR Minister

The Western Regional Minister, Mr Kwabena Okyere Darko-Mensah says he is an honest man who has delivered on all his promises since he became a politician.

Speaking to the media on Wednesday, June 8, he indicated that, the deplorable Agona-Tarkwa and Nkroful-Ketan roads, which are the major concern of residents in the region will be fixed very soon.

According to him, preparations are still underway, to complete the projects and they have taken some important steps which are very crucial so residents should bear with the government and have a bit of patient.

He said, “Since I became a politician to becoming the Member of Parliament (MP) to the people of Takoradi, I have never lied to them and have also made sure I deliver on all my promises I have made to them.

“The Nkroful-Ketan road is in process of getting fixed, the contractor was on it about 3 weeks ago and after doing some works on it, he decided to let vehicles make use of it before continuing with the project. However, the constant rain fall has made it difficult for him to return since he cannot work whiles it keeps raining.”

“Also, there is a bit of delay in the project plan of the Agona-Tarkwa road and we are seriously working on it, for works to begin soon.”

The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of Tarkwa-Nsuaem, Mr Benjamin Kessie, appealed to the government to speed up work on the 66-kilometre Tarkwa-Agona Nkwanta road.

He lamented that it was over one year since the President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo cut the sod for work to commence on the road, but they have not seen much.

Again, the MCE said “Tarkwa-Nusaem provides 100 per cent manganese and over 40 per cent gold to Ghana. No District or Municipality does this for the country, so l want to say with emphasis that we do not deserve this kind of road. The residents are not happy so the government should give special attention to the Tarkwa-Agona Nkwanta road.”
