President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo addressing the 77th United Nations (UN) General Assembly said Ghana is looking forward to exploiting its huge lithium deposit.
He said Ghana is adding value to its natural resources as they are processing more of their cocoa, refining more of their gold and they are determined to exploit the entire value chain of the huge lithium deposit.
“We are determined to exploit the entire value chain of our huge lithium deposit,” the president said at the 77th UN General Assembly on Wednesday, September 21.
It has been reported that prospecting is currently ongoing to mine the lithium deposit on a large scale after traces have been discovered in Sekondi and Dixcove in the Western Region.
This discovery continues to highlight the region to be the natural resource base and the backbone of raw materials in the country.
Prez Akufo Addo also said that “Ghana is busily building an integrated bauxite aluminium industry and an integrated iron and steel industry, building new oil refinery which has so far attracted 6 of the world’s biggest automobile manufacturers to have set up their assembly plants in Ghana.”
