WR Minister and Samira Bawumia celebrate 60th anniversary of Shama SHS

On Saturday, 26th November 2022, the Western Regional Minister joined the 2nd Lady of the Republic, Hajia Samira Bawumia, the leadership of Shama Senior High School and the invited guests to celebrate the 60th Anniversary of Shama SHS at the school premises.

In my opening remarks, Dr Kwabena Okyere Darko-Mensah entreated all to honour the selflessness and enterprising spirit of the founders who not only dared to envision the noble institution but also committed their lives and resources to the realization of the same.

He expressed his gratitude to the leadership of the school for the opportunity to speak on the theme, “21st Century Education: Preparing The Youth For Future Challenges”.

He stated that the motif reveals the need for continuous “Youth Empowerment”, which is one of the central fundamentals of the development agenda under my leadership at the Western Regional Coordinating Council (WRCC).

The Minister submitted that “Youth Empowerment” had been pursued with intense energy over the period in line with the Free SHS policy.

He called on the youth to be obedient and respectful, and also, to remain focused on their studies.

Dr Darko-Mensah emphasized that, as partners and social actors of change and progress, they should endeavour to engage in roles and responsibilities that ensure advancement to their development.

He further advised them to venture into agriculture and its value chain coupled with communication and critical thinking skills which are requisites for 21st-century development.

The Minister commended the efforts of the staff in executing the mandate of moulding and developing the talents of many young men and women.
