The suspect, a 27-year-old Prince Yoma shot the motor rider in the bush. He has been arrested by the police in Sehwi, in the Western North Region.
The report indicated that the suspect hired the motorbike rider, Charles Bosompim from Sehwi Essase, a farming community in the Akontombra District to alight him at Sehwi Ahibenso in the Bodi district.
On their way coming the suspect told the motorbike rider to stop and follow him into the bush to collect his transportation fee from his colleagues who are doing illegal mining just a few walks away.
Whilst moving, Prince Yoma pulled a locally manufactured pistol and shot at the neck of the motorbike rider.
Charles Bosompim fell flat and pretended he was dead. Prince Yoma, after seeing Charles ‘dead’, sat on him and smoked rolls of cigarettes.
Time running out his side, he quickly left his pistol around and other items belonging to him. After he had gone, Charles Bosompim, the motorbike rider managed to get out to seek help. Fortunately, he saw some farmers around and he informed that of what has happened to him.
The police were informed and subsequently laid an ambush to arrest the suspect.
Charles Bosompim was sent to the hospital at Sehwi Juaboso but later referred to Asafo and Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital. He’s receiving treatment.
The suspect is in police custody at Bodi while the investigation is ongoing. The motorbike, two Ghana cards, a pistol and other items were retrieved from the suspect.
