6 Arrested for attempting to kidnap 13-year-old student at Inchaban

There has been an alleged attempted kidnapping of a 13-year-old student at Inchaban in the Shama District on Sunday, March 12.

6 suspects were arrested and detained at the Sekondi Divisional Police Headquarters but five of them (5) were released under the condition that they were underage leaving a 19-year-old suspect in police custody.

Further information states that the suspects were nine (9) in total but three of them bolted when the community members became aware of their alleged attempted kidnapping leaving only six of them behind.

The victim Richardson Kofi Benny narrated his story to Skyy Power FM’s Alex Tagoe stating that he was at his father’s shop at Inchaban when 9 of the suspects approached him.

He said, “I was alone at my father’s shop when 9 guys approached me, three of them left leaving only six (6) of them with me, they began to ask where they can get human blood to purchase, I told them I don’t know anywhere they can get that.”

“After I told them I don’t know where I can get the blood for them, they then requested for my blood, which I told them will not be possible… then one of them brought out a handkerchief in an attempt to subdue me but I resisted. They struggled with me but fortunately, a friend of my father who was passing by saw us and came to my rescue, he then raised an alarm to alert the community members who came around and assisted in sending the suspects to the police station.”

After a crunch meeting with the family of the suspects, the victim and the police on Monday, March 13, the police have asked that the five (5) underage suspects who were released be returned to police for further investigation.
