NPP ‘to set records straight’ in response to NDC’s True State of the Nation Address

The ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) says it will soon hold a press conference to respond to the “enormity of the allegations and falsehoods” peddled by the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) at a forum to give the ‘True State of the Nation Address’.

The NDC delivered the Address at the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA) on Monday, March 20, taking on the Akufo-Addo-led government for running down the economy.

National Chairman Johnson Asiedu Nketia delivered the address, questioning the basis for which the NPP remains in power despite how low its officials have sunk the Ghanaian economy.

He said his party will not be part of this mess.

But in a statement later on Monday, the ruling party said the NDC only turned the programme to a campaign platform to peddle “falsehoods, unsubstantiated allegations and unprovoked attacks at the persons of the President, the Vice President and the Government of the NPP”.

Signed by General Secretary Justin Kodua Frimpong, the statement said the NPP will soon produce “incontrovertible facts and data” to prove that Mr Asiedu Nketia only made empty statements and unmeritorious effusions.

The NPP said he is no stranger when it comes to such political theatricals.

“However, paying regards to the enormity of the allegations and falsehoods he spewed, the NPP has decided to set the records straight by responding to same with incontrovertible facts and data in order to assist discerning Ghanaians make and informed decision.”

It said details of the press conference will be made available in due course.
