Black Princesses secure dominant win over Ivory Coast in WAFU U-20 tournament

The Ghana Women’s U-20 national team, the Black Princesses, continued their impressive run in the WAFU U-20 Girls tournament with a dominant 3-1 victory over Ivory Coast at the Baba Yara Stadium on Saturday.

Having started their campaign with a resounding 3-0 win against Benin, the Black Princesses were determined to maintain their winning form against Ivory Coast.

The match kicked off with both teams showing their intent, but it was Ghana who took the early advantage.

In the 14th minute, Maafia Nyame opened the scoring with a fine header, putting Basigi’s side in front. The skipper, Stella Nyamekye, further extended the lead just six minutes later with a superb finish, ensuring a comfortable halftime lead for the Ghanaians.

In the second half, the Ivorians managed to pull one back nine minutes after the break, raising hopes of a potential comeback. However, the Black Princesses remained resolute and determined to secure the victory as Maafia Nyame once again showcased her prowess, scoring her second goal of the match and the team’s third, sealing a fantastic performance.

With this victory, the Black Princesses maintain a perfect 100% record in the tournament and secure their place in the semifinals.

Their impressive display of skill, teamwork, and determination has earned them well-deserved progress in the competition.
