Skyy Power FM CEO Wilson Arthur inducted into CIMG Chartered Marketer Achievers Hall

Hon Wilson Arthur – founder of Skyy Media Group has been inducted into the Chartered Institute of Marketing Ghana (CIMG) Hall of Achievers in a special ceremony at Labadi Beach Hotel in Accra on Saturday, 29th of April 2023.

This event is organized by CIMGHANA.

At the age of 28 years, Wilson Arthur qualified as a Chartered Marketer and began his professional marketing career by setting up his own business – Music Paradise Shop at Adabraka, near Eclipse alongside taking up the full-time role of Marketing Manager of Media No1 Advertising Company from December 1995.

Wilson managed the TV Market program on GTV and rebroadcast European Soccer Competitions in Ghana Television. Wilson worked on top brands at the Media’s No 1 advertising agency, including LG, Latex Foam, Peak Milk, Melcom and Azar Paint.

After 15 months of practising marketing in the advertising agency space, Wilson Arthur moved on to establish Skyy Power 93.5fm in Takoradi in August 1997.

Wilson Arthur managed the $50,000 investment with his wife partner Adwoa Amofah and his Elder Engineer Partner Brother Kennedy Arthur to become one of the most reputable multi-million USD valued media brands in Ghana – giving birth to Ashh 101.1fm in Kumasi 2001, 4 Channel Skyy MMDS Television Service in 2003, that eventually pioneered Ghana’s digital TV migration in 2007 with an 8 Channel DVB-T Multiplexer network with service covering Accra – Tema, Koforidua, Kumasi, Cape Coast and Sekondi Takoradi.

In 2017 after acquiring an Executive Master’s in Public Administration, Wilson entered Public Service as DCE of rural Wassa East District and Dean of MMDCEs in the Western Region.
At Wassa East, Wilson established Skyy Football club in the 2017/2018 season with outstanding successes; remaining unbeaten in maiden participation in the division two league to qualify for the division.

Upgrade St Martins Park to host division one league matches at Daboase. Skyy fc won the maiden edition of the Top 8 Division One League Clubs Super Cup competition in 2021 and today is in contention to qualify for Ghana Premier League and among the 4 semi-finalists of the MTN FA Cup Competition. Wilson Arthur doubles as the Chairman of the Organizing Committee of the Ghana MTN FA Cup competition.

Mr Arthur has applied marketing in Music distribution, Media, Public Service and Sports par excellence. Wilson brokered groundbreaking sponsorship deals for MTN – Asante Kotoko under Dr KK Sarpong era and GN – DOL deal under the Kwasi Nyantakyi administration.

Hon Wilson Arthur continues to serve Ghana as a Commissioner with the National Development Commission (NDPC) where he serves additionally as an Executive Committee Member and also Convener of the Editorial and Communications Committee.

The marketing and brand management achievements of Wilson Arthur are flagged by his creation – Westside Masquerades and Music Carnival, the biggest Christmas attraction in Ghana today.
